The Production Planning and Material Control Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating Planning, Production Control and Inventory Control for Thin Film Myrtle Beach Operation.
Thin Film Operations Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the current Planning/Production Control department, develop improved management processes to enhance customer service performance, schedule and monitor plant production performance against plan, institute policies and procedures to improve adherence to commitments and facilitate communications between and among manufacturing, sales, marketing, cost accounting, engineering and management regarding the overall level of production and business requirements to meet profit objectives.
On an annual basis, participate in the development of the master plan, overseeing the translation of the forecast into inventory, capacity plans and other master plan analyses.
On a monthly and quarterly basis, develop specific plans and activities to meet customer demand and service level commitments, cycle time and inventory investment targets, raw material forecast, and track and report on actual performance against these targets.
On a day-to-day basis, review and communicate transient priorities and deal with special situations generated within AVX or by reps, distributors or customers communicating to the plant through the sales organization or direct through E.D.I. Formulate tactics to accommodate unexpected needs while maintaining as many of the previous commitments as possible. Communicate with, and solicit involvement of any organization groups that are needed, and direct execution of these tactics.
Direct the development of improvements to, or replacements for, as needed, the existing planning and control systems.
Visit the top 3 “Key Accounts”, based on sales revenue, 2 times annually. The goal is to further develop a long lasting business relationship that fosters open communications and business growth.
While in the region, as time permits, schedule time with Sales Reps and visit other customers within the area, as well as perform audits of any class “A” vendors in the area.
Monitor collection of floor scrap and precious metal reclaim from production through shipment to refinery. May include witness of refinery process.
Ensure documentation accuracy for foreign and domestic shipments including governmental licensing and customs.
Formal Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Engineering.
American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and other planning and control training and seminar participation is desirable.
Background and Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Planning/Production Control with a high technology manufacturing company (prefer electronic components industry).
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
Special Qualifications and Requirements:
Knowledge and understanding of planning and control processes and systems. Have the presence to deal with various levels of management (technical and business personnel) and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Prior experience with MRP systems; Oracle Plus.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel to Jacksonville, Florida for training.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 is required or if a non-US person, the ability to obtain an export license approved by the U.S. Department of State.
