Division Costing Manager

Job Description:
The Divisional Cost Manager/Engineer is charge of a global costing team while at the same time supports the Interconnect Operations & Marketing team himself and is accountable for the complete estimating life‐cycle: Request for Quotation (RFQ) to Quote, to Marketing & Sales. On Custom products like for Automotive, Industrial and Medical products on a global base including business case analyses of capital requests

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define Cost Estimate Scope: Define the project scope, time period, phases to be estimated, communication channels, and establish any boundaries for estimates or project requirements.
  • Maintain and update DRL (RFQ forms)
  • Lead Project Acquire Committee and meetings
  • Define assumptions or constraints: Identify any schedule or budget constraints, and how those will be resolved.
  • Establish and update a local and global database of quotes and RFQs
  • Build up a software system to electronically calculate new projects and therefore atomizes the quoting and cost break down procedure
  • Develop Cost Element Structure: Identify everything defined in the scope to be costed.
  • Collect and Monitor Data in the System to verify STD cost equals calculations and adjust if needed.
  • Manage risks, identify (if necessary) contingency plan, control changes and communication. Measure and report on progress.
  • Develop Cost Estimating Relationships: Use cost data to develop formulas/equations entered into the cost model.
  • Work close with advanced purchasing and purchasing to drive the right costs and supplier portfolio
  • Customer Review: Ensure that all expected costs have been properly presented to Customer for Review/Approval/Acceptance of the estimate if needed face to face
  • Maintain Smartsheet and follow up with Sales on the status
  • Assist in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations, internally with the technical and operational team.
  • Coordinate the needed production concept for best price in NA or China that meets deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Establish quote priorities based on evaluation and analysis of overall opportunities.
  • Verify processes needed for production to decide if this can be external or if there is a need for integration internally
  • Monitor P&L quarterly with Operations team
  • Performs performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications, including the consistent use of applicable procedures.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree is required, preferably in an Engineering discipline.  PMP certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in the connectors industry, preferably in a sales or marketing discipline.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, manufacturing personnel, and development engineers.
  • Passionate drive to form global structures within the own team.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and have profound attention to detail and perform with high accuracy.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and possess strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership and integrity to bring all resources to bear to achieve project success in the committed timeframe while openly acknowledging difficulties and roadblocks.
  • Willing to travel in order to support Marketing and Sales in front of the customer.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office programs. Functional knowledge of accounting, financial accounting.
  • Operating knowledge and experience of SolidWorks, design software and engineering tools.
  • Experience in Sugar and Smartsheet are a bonus.
