AVX’s tantalum capacitor provides cost-saving solution

AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and leaded solutions, has been awarded the ‘Outstanding Technical Paper Award’ at the 2008 CARTS Europe Conference. The paper is entitled “New Low Profile Low ESL Tantalum Multi-anode Capacitor” and was written by Tomas Zedniček, Ladislav Marek and Stanislav Zedniček.

CARTS Europe is the premier symposium for the European passive electronic components industry, showcasing technical excellence in materials, applications, design, construction, testing, reliability and new technologies. Best and Outstanding Paper Awards are voted for by conference attendees.

All three authors, who are based at AVX Lanškroun, Czech Republic, have worked in the tantalum industry for more than ten years. “Today’s electronic market is driven by individual users, hi-tech is only recognized if it delivers a cost saving solution. We have achieved this with a new configuration of multi-anode tantalum capacitor which is easier to manufacture and provides lower self inductance without the need to change PCB layout,” said Tomas Zedniček, tantalum technical marketing manager and one of the paper’s co-authors.
