Thin Film Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:
Ownership of process steps in a Class 100 Cleanroom. Responsible for semiconductor equipment, processes, and other devices to produce micro-electronic devices. Also responsible for optimizing manufacturing, quality control, cost, raw materials, process inputs and outputs.

Engineering Section Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides production support for the cleanroom operations for the passive micro components (PMC) division.
  • Responsible for the ongoing operations of thin-film manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting out of control processes and implementation of preventative solutions to reduce future situations.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and correction of equipment failures.
  • Determines root causes of quality and reliability issues.
  • Evaluation of new processes and manufacturing plans based on specific design expectations.
  • Uses process control and quality tools such as SPC, DOE, FMEA, and 6-Sigma principles to improve process performance and division profitability.
  • Responsible for creation and revision of process documentation.
  • Provides oversight of training and technical guidance to production floor employees.
  • Supports ongoing quality system improvements.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year of process / manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and Experience is preferred in the following:
    • Semiconductor or thin film electronics manufacturing
    • Fundamentals of in-line, batch and cluster sputtering equipment
    • RF and DC magnetron sputtering with reactive gases
    • Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) and Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) processes
  • Experience in metrology, diffusion, wet etching and photolithography is a bonus.  
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 is required
  • Ability to follow clean room protocol including but not limited to: wearing a clean room suit, head covering, beard covering and gloves, and maintaining personal hygiene to control flaky skin and dandruff
  • Ability to detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
  • Good deductive reasoning abilities to combine separate pieces of information in order to address and solve specific problems
  • Ability to use a microscope for product analysis
  • Dexterity to handle fragile substrates and/or small components
  • Willing to work in a team oriented environment, take self-initiative to identify, plan, and complete projects
  • Familiar with ISO9001 quality standards
