Project Engineer – AVX Interconnect

Location: Greenville, SC
Job Description:
Conceive and design connectors and modules for the AVX Interconnect Group. Coordinate sourcing of tooling and test equipment necessary to produce new products or product lines and manage the project from conception to product release.
Reports To:
Interconnect Engineering Manager or Interconnect Senior Project Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for development of new connector devices from concept to production.
  • Develop systems to research new engineering trends, both product and manufacturing, to improve products and manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored for effectiveness.
  • Write engineering reports which explain and document all engineering investigations.
  • Coordinate and lead major engineering projects which may affect several groups or departments within AVX Interconnect or AVX Corporation.
  • Provide feedback to AVX personnel and/or customers concerning product compliance to defined product parameters and requirements. Includes customer specifications and required tests, and industry standards.
  • Conduct meetings and conference calls as needed and publish reports to ensure project status has been communicated to all affected people within AVX and the customer.
  • Resolve process and reliability problems affecting products and customers.
  • Investigate, develop, test and implement new manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate status of engineering programs and problem solving activities to AVX Interconnect personnel; both domestic and foreign.
  • Work with AVX Interconnect personnel around the world to provide the best solutions to customers.
  • Identify opportunities and initiate programs for cost reduction, quality improvement and business growth.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Two years related experience
  • Experience with Project Management Software
  • Clear and effective oral and written communications. Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and graphics software.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of TS-16949 and APQP Requirements is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments.
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements. Therefore, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 is required.
Position may require travel, including international travel, up to 50% of the time.
