Job Description:
In accordance with standard practices of the industrial maintenance construction trades, performs skilled maintenance work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, calibration and testing, and repair of production and facilities systems, equipment, and fixtures. Instructions relating to work assignments may be oral or written and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Wide latitude is allowed in determining methods of work procedures. Work is usually performed independently or under the general supervision of the Facility Manager, and is reviewed through inspection of work in progress and upon completion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Reads and interprets mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical blueprints, construction documents, operation manuals and schematics to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and machinery or to provide and prepare new/upgrade trade related facilitization for both plant and equipment capital projects.
  2.  Performs scheduled repairs of equipment and machinery by utilizing acquired knowledge to isolate problem areas, repair, replace, or make adjustments in order to restore to proper operation.
  3. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs particularly sensitive/complex equipment and machinery for recurring problems. Utilizes diagnostic and test equipment as needed.
  4. Installs new or replacement parts in facilities and production machinery and equipment, and performs set ups and adjustments.
  5. Through acquired experience and knowledge ensures that all work conforms with applicable building and safety codes or regulations.
  6. May periodically enter confined spaces such as sewer lift station, dust collection baghouses, process water pit, process mixing tanks, etc. for the purpose of cleaning, maintenance, and repair.
  7. Maintains work area to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics and understand shop mathematics and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles at a level normally acquired in two years of technical training or trade apprenticeship program beyond high school. Oral and written expression skills sufficient to receive and respond to verbal instructions, maintain production and equipment maintenance logs, understand operation manuals and provide material take off lists and interpret construction drawings/documents.
  2. At least five years experience in industrial maintenance or a skilled trade in the construction field as a welder/millwright, pipefitter/plumber or sheet metal/HVAC mechanic required.
  3. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with supervisor, operators, coworkers and others as needed in order to describe procedures, operating parameters and articulate scopes of work and materials needed to complete assignments.
  4. Visual acuity and the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details for moderate periods of time when operating equipment, testing parts, and maintaining records.
  5. Position requires such mobility factors as standing, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or a combination approximately 90% of the work time.
  6. Ability to lift objects weighing an average of 30 to 50 pounds, ten to twenty percent of the work time.
