Field Applications Engineer – Automotive Passives

Location: Detroit, MI and Vicinity
Job Description:
AVX Corporation, an established, global organization, has an excellent opportunity for a Field Applications Engineer. This position is responsible for developing new customers and products within our various Passives Divisions. You will work closely with field sales, development engineering and customers to identify passive application requirements leading to customer design approvals and new business for AVX. Additionally you will provide technical capability presentations to OEM customers and sales reps to promote new technologies.

Regional Interconnect Sales Manager - Automotive
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working with automotive customers to develop customer specific passive solutions resulting in the design-in of AVX products.
  • Analyzing customer application requirements and working with Development Engineering to determine project feasibility.
  • Development of product and program implementation plans.
  • Keeping current with the latest automotive passive technology.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and communicating the status of project and design activities.
  • Will support application development activities.
  • Build credibility with customer base so they continually use you as a primary source.
  • Consistently provide product training for sales reps and Distribution sales teams.
Job Requirements:
  • Four year Engineering Degree required, preferably in electrical engineering.
  • Electrical engineering experience/aptitude required.
  • Five years of experience in technical marketing/sales, preferably related to electronic design and component manufacturing preferred. Automotive passive design/sales experience a strong plus!
  • Must have clear understanding of electrical engineering applications as it relates to automotive applications in the areas of engine management, safety, and comfort and convenience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills at the sales and customer level.
  • Ability to travel 50% to 75% of the time within the Americas Region. Occasional travel to overseas may be required.
  • Ability to work independently while taking direction from Regional Management.
  • Position will be based out of Detroit, MI.
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 is required.
